Welcome 2019. Now What?

January 21, 2019January 21, 2019

What Has Your Naturopathic Doctor Been Up To?

Making her own New Years resolutions of course. It has been a whirlwind of a year and it’s time for her to get back to those health goals that are important to her. This year, she plans on focusing on her stress levels, her digestive health, and keeping up with a workout routine that dropped off last year due to her busy schedule. How is she going to achieve this? She is going to follow the 4 steps below to ensure that she has a successful 2019.

Why Most New Years Resolutions Fail

It is the start of a new year and you may find yourself reflecting on your past resolutions. Were you able to meet your aspirations? If so, amazing! If not, you’re not alone. Many of us fail to meet up to our own goals. At first the goal may seem attainable, but what exactly goes wrong? While the reasons vary from person to person, here are 4 common ways you are standing in the way of your success.

  1. Your goals aren’t clear
    • Do you know where your goals came from?
    • Why are they important to you?
    • How would achieving these goals influence your life
    • Uncertainty about your goals creates room for indifference, confusion, and eventually failure. The crucial component is tailoring tasks that align with who you are and where you wish to be.
  2. You feel overwhelmed
    • Change can be daunting and looking at the long road ahead may cause you to feel as though it’s too much, too soon. Remember that getting to the end of the road begins with a step.
  3. You feel discouraged
    • As you strive for your goals, you may become impatient in the process. Perhaps you are not seeing signs of progress, or at least not as fast as you previously expected. Keep in mind, change is a process and remember why you set out to make these changes in the first place.
  4. You are not ready to change
    • You may think you are interested in change, and you very well may be, but are you ready? Try making small changes first before committing to a big change.

You will succeed in 2019.

HERB OF THE MONTH

RHODIOLA

With January being a very dark and cold month, our bodies start to feel run down and fatigue starts to set in. Rhodiola to the rescue! The adaptogenic properties of this herb come from the physiological effects it has on our stress hormone. Rhodiola can help our bodies become more resilient to the effects of stress and thus, help with the mental clarity and energy we need to get through this month.
